Dear Coaches,
The New York City Interscholastic Math League (NYCIML) will be sponsoring its annual citywide High School math team coaches’ training session at Stuyvesant High School (Room 407) on Professional Development Day, Tuesday, November 3, 2009. We would like to invite all high school principals and assistant principals of mathematics in schools that have math teams or are considering the formation of such a team to send their math team coach(es) to this series of workshops on Problem Solving. There will be special presentations on starting a math team. Experienced coaches will have workshops on special topics to be taught to the math team.
If you will be sending one or more people to the November 3rd professional development session, please let us know by e-mail at exec@nyciml.org and indicate the number of people that will be attending. Please respond by Friday, October 23, 2009.

Dear Coaches,
We are proud to introduce to you two new features coming out of our labs:
Dvision Talk: This is the place where you can communicate with coordinators and other coaches without using e-mail. Everyone can read but account at nyciml.org is required to post comment. Accounts have been set up for all coaches whose teams are registered with NYCIML for 2009-10 and whose registration included valid coach email and phone number.
Login Credentials
Your username is your first and last name written in lower-case without middle name or punctuation.
e.g., IF your name is Tim A. The’Beaver
THEN your username is timthebeaver
Your password is your username and the last 4 digits of your home phone number (if no home phone was provided at registration, use school phone)
e.g., IF your username is timthebeaver and your home phone is 718-000-1717
THEN your password is timthebeaver1717
If you have any questions regarding your login credentials or you are unable to log in, please contact us for technical support at webmaster@nyciml.org.

Dear Coaches,
Welcome back to school! Remember the absolutely quiet classroom with everyone concentrating on his/her own question sheets? Did you see your students sweat when you shouted “15 seconds remain”? Did you hear them scream when you wrote the answers on the board and they forgot to simplify their answers? Have you decided who’s on the team this year? We hope that you are as excited as we are about the new contest season. Please don’t forget to register online by Monday, 9/21 and send the check to our Treasurer Justin Ma.
To improve efficiency and contest security, all contest material will be sent out via email with .pdf attachments on Sunday before the actual contest date.
Sample contest is now available on our website (www.nyciml.org) for your reference. Starting from last spring, we have implemented the fee waiver policy for new schools. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you are interested in joining us and would like to know more about the fee waiver policy.
We are looking forward to working with you and your students this year and we wish you all the best in the upcoming contest season!
Thanks,
Eva Chan and Kevin Hwang

Dear Students and Coaches,
In order to improve your experience at NYCIML.org, we are currently renovating our website. In particular, two new features are proposed:
- An interactive score uploading page that meets the following criteria:
- allows coaches to upload scores and manage team rosters
- saves team names and student names for easier access
- automatically posts uploaded scores within 24 hours to be viewed
- A separate discussion page for each division that allows coaches and students to directly communicate with coordinators of their respective divisions
Please know that we greatly value your comments and suggestions. Feel free to contact us at any time by email.
Thanks,

Dear Math Team Coaches,
Thank you for your enthusiasm in participating New York City Interscholastic Math League last year. Now, the registration for the 2009-2010 season is open, please access at http://www.nyciml.org/contests/registration/ for your new registration.
To your notices, the rules for our contests have been changed, please check them out in “Division Structure and Problem Difficulty” and “Eligibility of Students and Number of Awards” at: http://www.nyciml.org/contests/rules/.
Last spring, we sent out Senior A contests by emails, and it was a successful trial for us. Therefore, in order to make the process more convenient, we are planing to send out the contest packets in all divisions by emails from this year. If you don’t like to receive contests by emails, please inform us via exec@nyciml.org after your registration.

To all rising college freshmen of the NYCIML,
Congratulations! You will be off to college in just a few months. We’d like to take this moment to invite you to join us, college students as well, in managing this league. What your position in the Executive Committee entails would be varied: from interacting with students of the league like myself to coordinating with coaches and question writers like Jae or Huilin, this year’s other freshmen members of the NYCIML. If you are interested in a great opportunity to interact with other alumns of the league and give back to this organization, please let your coach know.
Thanks,
Eliot Kim
