Staff Development Day, Tuesday, November 2, 2010

The New York City Interscholastic Math League (NYCIML) will be sponsoring its annual citywide High School math team coaches’ training session at Stuyvesant High School (Room 407) on Professional Development Day, Tuesday, November 2, 2010.  We would like to invite all HIGH SCHOOL principals and assistant principals of mathematics in schools that have math teams or are considering the formation of such a team to send their math team coach(es) to this series of workshops on Problem Solving.  The materials provided will be valuable resources for the teachers in your department and will include problems and strategies applicable to all levels of mathematics, specifically, grades 9 – 12.  There will be special presentations on starting a math team.  Experienced coaches will have workshops on special topics to be taught to the math team.

Last year, the New York City Math Team won first, second, and third place in the New York State Math League competition.  With your assistance, we hope to continue this excellence through the collaborative efforts of the various math teams throughout the city.

Please send your coach or a representative to this meaningful staff development activity.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

If you will be sending one or more people to the November 2nd professional development session, please inform us by e-mail at  exec@nyciml.org.  Please respond by Friday, October 22, 2010.
